FTSE Group is an independent global index company. Partnered with nine stock exchanges and serving clients in 77 countries, FTSE calculates over 20,000 indices daily, including more than 600 real-time indices. The best known of these is the FTSE 100 Index.

All FTSE indices are free-float adjusted to reflect availability of stock in the market available for public investment. The methodology used to calculate FTSE indices is transparent and disciplined, based on strict adherence to publicly stated rules.

The company originated as a joint venture between the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange; hence, the acronym, FTSE. The company has no capital markets involvement and does not give financial advice. Its sole business is the creation and management of indices and associated data services.
