Hedge Funds Gaining Assets in South Africa

South African Hedge FundsWith all of the media exposure around China and Brazil's economic growth Africa is sometimes forgotten to even be a part of the hedge fund industry. It wasn't until the late 1990's when the first few hedge funds in South Africa were launched.

The 2007 Novare Investments report on African Hedge Funds said that 33 funds were launched between January and June of 2007. Even more importantly the total assets managed by hedge funds in South Africa increased by over 70% to 25.9B Rand
