How to Have a Positive Attitude

Here is a short video by sales trainer Jeffrey Gitomer on sales and positive attitude. Gitomer is one of my favorite sales trainers and in this economic environment I thought this was a great video. Most hedge fund websites would never talk about positive attitude - that is exactly why having one is a competitive advantage in business. Gitomer suggests to:
  • Surround yourself with positive people
  • Expose yourself to positive books, magazines and movies
  • Say all things in a positive way
  • Start now and work on it every day
I've read five of his books and met him in person while in Boston. The best tip I have gotten from Gitomer on positive attitude is to read 15 minutes worth of positive reading every morning right after you wake up.

Well, I think the salesman of the 21st century got too much of the "positive thinking". On Saturday some international phone service company called and asked me if I would be interested about their offer. My answer was that I already have an international plus long distance flat-rate for $3 a month and I asked them if they at least can match this offer. Well, the lady said frankly that they won't be able to match it, since they only offer international services and their prices are higher. End of the call. Well same person called again 3 hours later, to ask me if I have changed my mind! What can I say more? Their heads are full of positive thinking but unfortunately they lack the cool-mind which would enable them to actually concentrate on their potential customers and actually perform the sale.
Also, if a hedge fund manager comes with this rampant optimism and acts in this fashion in his or her transactions, well, I would consider this much more dangerous for the society than driving drunk!
