I just had lunch with two prime brokerage professionals. They were as shocked as anyone about Bank of America's recent take over of Merrill Lynch and said that they are now (9.15.08) receiving over 30 resumes a day from prime brokerage professionals and traders looking for jobs. They spoke a few minutes about how much the prime brokerage industry is changing - many of these professionals are used to making $500,000 a year and they are sales professionals, they do not know how to trade, manage risk or manage clients in a hands-on way.
