Toscafund Asset Management owns 105.5 million shares of Seattle-based thrift Washington Mutual Inc. (WM), according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The purchase makes the fund one of WaMu’s largest institutional investors, behind TPG, the private equity group that recently bought a large chunk of the bank for about $7.2 billion. source
