Resource #1: Staff turnover is nothing new at Omega Advisors, the $3 billion New York-based hedge fund whose boss, Leon G. Cooperman, is described as volatile even by friends.
But after a tumultuous year that saw Omega drop more than 20 percent in last summer's downdraft -- prompting the quick departure of the firm's emerging-markets managers -- Mr. Cooperman is now losing a top lieutenant and close confidant who, according to people who have worked at the firm, has played an important role in Omega's success. source

Resource #4: Dr. Leon G. Cooperman is the Founder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President at Omega Advisors, Inc. He retired from his positions as a General Partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, at the end of 1991, after 25 years of service. At Goldman Sachs, Dr. Cooperman spent 15 years as a Partner and from 1990 to 1991, as Of Counsel to the Management Committee. In 1989, he became the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and was the Chief Investment Officer of the equity product line including managing the GS Capital Growth Fund, an open-end mutual fund, for one and one-half years. Prior to these appointments, Dr. Cooperman spent 22 years in the investment research department as Partner-In-Charge, Co-Chairman of the Investment Policy Committee, and Chairman of the Stock Selection Committee. For nine consecutive years, he was voted the number one portfolio strategist in the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team survey. Dr. Cooperman is a Director, Chairman of Audit Committee, Member of Executive Committee, and Member of Nominating & Corporate Governance Committee at Automatic Data Processing, Inc., a Trustee at Saint Barnabas Hospital, and Chairman at the Saint Barnabas Development Foundation. He is also a Member of the Board of Overseers at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, serves on the National Board of Trustees at the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Inc. Mr. Cooperman is also associated as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cancer Research Fund at the Damon Runyon-Walter Winchell Foundation, and Member of the Investment Committee at the Museum of Modern Art. He is a Senior Member and past President of the New York Society of Security Analysts. Dr. Cooperman is a designated Chartered Financial Analyst. He has received his B.A. from Hunter College and M.B.A. from Columbia University. Dr. Cooperman is a recipient of Roger Williams University's Honorary Doctor of Finance and was inducted to Hunter College's Hall of Fame source

I think all we've learned is what we already knew, is that stocks have become like commodities, regrettably, and they go up to limit and they go down to limit.
