Resource #1: The Los Angeles-based former Network Ten executive and Village Roadshow Pictures head is now arguably the most influential Aussie in Hollywood behind Fox owner Rupert Murdoch (chairman and chief executive of News Corporation, parent company of News Limited, which publishes The Australian).

While Coote was negotiating a production deal with Fox, it was suggested he join forces with Dune Capital Partners, a hedge fund established by former Goldman Sachs executives who had quietly financed Fox's recent films and acquisitions.

"The wise heads at Fox decided there was a marriage to be made and said to Dune: 'We think you guys should maximise your clout and investment and become a production company'," says Coote, who is now chairman and chief executive of Dune Entertainment, which has signed a $US500 million ($542 million) three-year financing deal with Fox.
