SCI Bond Indexes | Holdings
Scotia Capital, Inc. maintains a number of indexes covering the Canadian bond market, which include the following series.
Currency: Canadian dollars
SCI Short Term Bond Index
Covers Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, and AAA- through BBB-rated corporate issuers, which are weighted by issuer amounts outstanding. Bonds included have an average term of 3.1 years and represent approximately $40 billion in Canadian bonds outstanding.
SCI Mid Term Bond Index
Covers Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, and AAA- through BBB-rated corporate issuers, which are weighted by issuer amounts outstanding. The index measures all bonds outstanding with terms to maturity of five to 10 years and reflects approximately $50 billion in marketable bonds outstanding. It is a total return index that accounts for capital gain (loss) as well as interest income earned on each debt category and subcategory.
SCI Long Term Bond Index
Covers Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, and AAA- through BBB-rated corporate issuers, which are weighted by issuer amounts outstanding. Bonds included have an average term greater than 15 years to maturity. It is a total return index that accounts for capital gain (loss) as well as interest income earned on each debt category and subcategory.
