Investment Company Institute. The ICI is the national association of the American investment company industry. Founded in 1940, its membership includes over 8,200 mutual funds and nearly 500 closed-end funds, as well as sponsors of unit investment trusts. Its mutual fund members represent more than 83 million individual shareholders and manage more than $7 trillion. Russell is a member of ICI.
