Fund Pooling | Definition

The basic concept behind mutual funds. A fund pools the money of thousands of individual and/or institutional investors who share common financial goals. The fund uses this pool to buy a diversified portfolio of investments. Each mutual fund share purchased represents ownership in all the fund's underlying securities.
