Convertible Preferred Stock - Definition

Preferred stock that can be converted into common stock at the option of the holder. Convertible preferred stock has two benefits: (a) preference as to dividends and/or assets in the event of liquidation, and (b) additional profits via appreciation and/or dividends, if the stock is converted.
