Active Investment Strategy Definition
Active management is any process by which an investment manager seeks to add incremental returns relative to a market index or attain above-average risk-adjusted performance. "Active" also implies that the investment manager has at least some discretion over the portfolio activity, the percent invested in one or more markets, and the securities selected.
